86 part 2 episode 2 (13) It's Too Late.

Dear Lord I just barely got the video done in time. Literally minutes after the episode drops, I finally finish the upload. 2 whole hours to get this puppy on the internet. Been at this video since Midnight.
A bit of a preamble for those that just read these essays on Gogo:

I have gotten a very particular question about episode 12, so I wanted to address this now. In episode 12, at the 22:00 marker, Ernst gives Shin a piece of metal.
This is Shin's first tag he ever retrieved (thus started his legend as "Reaper/Undertaker): Shin's brother, Shourei's tag.. If you go to episode 12, at the 22:00 mark, and compare it to episode 6 at the 1:22 mark, you can see that the "Rei" mark matches the "skeleton's neck with a red scarf".

For those that want a few explanations about the subtle things that the studio did to really amplify the content of Novel 2, you can watch the first 11:43 of my Episode 2 (13) video. It will match the title for this essay.

-

I also need to state the following now:
I will be covering the entirety of Chapter 3, no matter where the anime stops. I will only put Point 5 under spoilers, this is the only section I suspect may be left as a cliffhanger. If you choose to read that part, know I don't insert it to ruin your fun as anime-only.
If you go to the video, I will of course cover all points, so again, watch episode 13 first before consulting the essay or the video

-

-

Alright, with that out of the way, let's start this episode up! I watched the preview for episode 2 (13), and I have to say you anime-only viewers are in for a treat! I suspect that this episode is going to be very "anime-original", as the chapter we are covering "Wild Blue Yonder" is roughly 35 pages, and if we went any further past this point, it would require some timeskips, so I suspect we are going to end this episode on the following:

The children will have come to a decision, and Ernst will be in shock upon hearing this decision, but Frederica's words will silence his dissenting words.

-

Topics!

1. What's the situation after episode 12?
2. The children's circumstances.
3. Shin makes a friend.
4. The reason for the title "It's too late".
5. Frederica's identity, and The Three things that make a man

-

-

1. What's the situation after episode 12?

So we ended episode 12 with Shin receiving Shourei's marker... but where are we now? I suspect with the start of Chapter 3 titled "Wild Blue Yonder", a timeskip has occurred. It should be roughly a month since Ernst adopted Shin and company, and told them to "give thought to their future". As of this moment, a total of two months have passed since Shin and company were picked up by the Federacy after the Special Recon Mission.

This part is for light novel readers:

Since we are meeting Eugene here in the library in episode 13, I ask that you respect the fact that we have skipped another chapter. I will not state what this chapter title is, but if you have read novel 2, you will know the one I mention. You know the importance of Eugene for Novels 2 and 3, so let's give the anime-onlys a fair shake on this one.

Ernst is receiving updates about each child, and what they have done with their month. Each has a special hobby they have picked up, and each have made their own friends... and this is giving Ernst hope... hope that the 86 Children can finally put the hell of the battlefield behind them.

There is an important holiday occurring in the Federacy at this time:
The Holy Birthday
I assume this is a reference to Christmas, as the holiday is described as an exchange of presents.

-

-

2. The children's circumstances.

I will leave Shin's circumstances for Point 3.

I suspect that the anime will flesh out the Anju, Raiden, Theo, and Kurena's downtime much more than the Novel, as Chapter 3 describes Theo and Shin's experiences more than the other characters (the others are more or less given a passing remark in comparison).
-

All kids have a Flip-Phone now.

Anju- Has picked up cooking classes.
Raiden - Has a part-time job as a mailman on a motorcycle.
Kurena - enjoys window shopping.
Theo - goes around the city sketching.
Shin - visits Libraries and Museums.

As Theo is going around the city, we are told the following:

1. Ernst and Frederica would fight over what to watch on TV. Turns out Frederica is really into magical-girl shows and superhero squads! I suspect this was an easter egg that the author left in that inspired the 86-spinoff where Lena and Annette are Magical Girls.

2. The Federacy were very truthful about their war reports. They would list all casualties, all names, and the citizens would bemoan the losses. Quite the opposite to the broadcasts of the Republic of San Magnolia.

3. Anju runs into Theo while he is walking around and asks him to come with her to carry groceries. Anju suggests asking for Shin's help, as Raiden is busy, and Kurena and Frederica are out of the question... and Theo reaches for his Para-RAID out of habit.

4. It is after this event that we are told the following about the 86's Para-RAID devices:
A. The "ear cuffs" are a data registration device. They were placed in a way the children couldn't remove themselves, and left their ears with permanent scars.

B. The data in each ear cuff is required to be reset whenever a Processor is transferred to another Handler... which happened often with Shin.

C. The Federacy are interested in the Para-RAIDs because they still lack the ability to communicate through the fog of the Eintagsfliege (these are the tiny butterflies that block communications).

D. We are told that the Federacy has picked up Shin's Juggernaut and are analyzing it.

E. Shin was not allowed his handgun back, even though civilians could be allowed to carry firearms. The pistol is special because it was the firearm Shin would use to put the dying to rest. It is stated Shin would not allow anyone else to bear that burden.

F. Theo wonders "would it kill Shin to live for himself a little more" to which Anju responds with the following:
"Maybe there were some things he could only do because of that obsession, though. Fixating yourself on a goal can also mean there's something to keep you grounded. Maybe having a goal of taking out his brother is what kept Shin with us."

"We, the Eighty-Six, were meant to die on that battlefield, so we can't help but feel this way. And Shin especially had a part of him that thought of nothing but his brother. And now that he doesn't have that anymore... I'm a little worried".

G. Theo and Anju then ask each other the "have you thought about the future?". This is in regards to Ernst's request.
Theo's response: "You're seriously asking me that? It should be obvious by now".
Anju's response: "I thought a lot about what things would be like if Daiya was still with us, or if we had a little more time to consider our options. But then I realized it wouldn't make much of a difference. If it's a question of what we should do versus what we want to do, I think we---"

-

-

We then get a segment concerning Kurena. A military parade is going through the street... but when Kurena first spots the Vanagandr's, she reaches for her shoulder, where her assault rifle would be.

We then learn the following:

1. Each of the kids had started having fun enjoying the peaceful lifestyle. At first they would sleep the days away, but each made friends of their own, Kurena included.

2. Each kid would explore the country and decide on their own future. No matter the decisions they made, the others would respect them.

3. Kurena at first would wear the clothes Teresa or Ernst's secretary decided, but now Kurena chooses her own style.

4. As the parade starts to die down, we get this passage about Kurena's inner thoughts on page 100:

"The blue of the sky was only a curtain that covered boundless darkness. The sky, the seas, the beautiful blue --- they were all the outer layer of a world that meant only death for humans.
...Maybe that was why paradise was beyond the heavens.
Kurena stopped in her tracks and turned around. The march's music echoed up to the sky. As if to inform those beyond the sky that they would soon be joining them. The crowd prayed silently, the ex-service members saluted, and all the while, the Vanagandr marched on, draped in black in mourning. The number emblazoned on its turret was the number of those who'd died or gone missing on the battlefield since last year's parade. And each and everyone one of them had a name and life of their own.
But an even larger number of soldiers were still fighting out on the front.
This life was fun, but it was nothing more than a transient dream for Kurena and the others.

No matter how sweet the dream, we all wake up eventually

-

-

3. Shin makes a friend.

The beginning of "Wild Blue Yonder" starts with us following Shin (his story is split up throughout this chapter). He frequents a library, picking out various subjects and reading them all over his month... until one day he comes across a very particular book.

The anime changes it, but it is never suggested that Frederica goes to the Library with Shin.
personally, I like this change. It is further reinforcing a lesson we were told at the end of episode 12: No one can be a substitute for another, but some will still try.

A headless, skeletal knight, brandishing a greatsword.

Here is what page 82 says about this moment:

"Flipping through the book, he realized he had no memory of the story, either. He felt as if he somehow knew it, but the synopsis was so common he thought he might have imagined it. A hero of justice who would defeat the wicked and defend the innocent. But as he read through the book's simple composition, he could hear his brother's voice overlapping the words.
He could almost see those two big hands flipping through the pages. His voice would gradually become lower and thicker. And every night, Shin would pester him, trying to get him to read it aloud to him again."

-

It is at the moment that a small girl should approach Shin. She is eyeing the book he is reading, but is too shy to say anything. Shin gives her the book, and she runs off... only to come back with an older boy.

An Alba. A Celena (Anju's hair is Celena, and her eyes Alba)

This boy is Eugene Rantz. The sister is Nina Rantz.
Eugene is Shin's first friend. In the Federacy after the fall of the Giad Empire, noble families had the following occur to them:

All nobles lost their social statuses and tax privileges.

1. Higher nobles that were involved in enterprises vital to the war effort (agriculture and heavy industry) got to keep their positions.

2. Children of the nobles who couldn't inherit their families' headships and served as officers in the Imperial military were allowed to keep their positions.

3. All other nobles were reduced to normal citizens. This crippled most of the remaining nobles, as most had never known manual labor before this point, and had trouble finding employment, as they were hated by the middle class. Lower nobles were now poorer than even the common laborers.

-

-

It is at this point we get our first interlude. Shin has fallen asleep in the Library is having a dream. In this dream, he is seeing an old friend... taken many months ago by the Legion...

The first Fatality under Lena's command, Kaie.

I suspect that if the anime is showing you this moment, you will be seeing a moment from the opening theme. It is the moment you see many bodies, cradling their heads in their arms, with flowers spouting from their decapitated necks.

Kaie says the following to Shin in his dream:

"I know how selfish of a request this is. You reached your final destination. And you brought us all with you. So you should have the right to put us behind you. But..."
"I can understand that, but it still hurts. Lingering like this hurts. I died, so I want to move on, Shin --- Our Reaper."
"Please Save Us"

page 93-94:

So the girl before him wasn't the real thing, nor was she an amalgamation of his friends... Maybe she was the symbol of his regrets. The things he'd left behind. Because at the time, the most he could do was bury his brother.

Shin's only response: "...I will"

-

-

Shin wakes up, and Eugene invites him to an observation terrace to see a military parade. On display is the new third-generation Vanagandrs. These are heavy tanks on par with the Lowe tanks, as both have a 120mm cannon.

Turns out Eugene and Shin had been reading the same military literature, as both had the idea to enlist in the special officer academy, so Eugene felt an affinity for Shin, but couldn't work up the courage to talk to him.

It is at this point we get an insight into why Eugene wants to join the military:
"The capital might be peaceful, but our country's at war. And who knows when the fighting might reach these streets. So I have to make sure that never happens... And besides, I want to show my sister the sea someday. So we have to end the war"

We then get a few internal thoughts from Shin:
"The battlefield he'd left behind. The battlefield he'd once fought on and chose to march through of his own will until the final moment. And despite making that wish, he wasn't on the battlefield anymore. He'd almost forgotten what lay beyond the Gran Mur's walls. A rotten Republic that turned its eyes away from reality and, through stagnation, decayed and lost all means to defend itself"

And the way I am right now, standing here and refusing to move forward, is the same as hiding within those walls.

"...Right"
The Legion's wails never ceased. They still moaned as they prowled far-off battlefields. Shin turned his attention to the voice of the decaying, mangled corpse of the Republic. He couldn't hear it---
Maybe because she was still alive there. Still fighting. Trying to follow in their footsteps.
"...Maybe I've rested for too long."
The words he muttered to himself were so faint they didn't reach Eugene's ears.

-

-

-

4. The reason for the title "It's too late".

I am going to skip the scene between Raiden and Frederica. It is a small scene where we learn that Raiden can cook, but Shin is a terrible cook, because as Raiden describes it "He is too rough". He's food wasn't inedible... just nasty.

In other words, Shin is a Shion in the kitchen

-

Ernst comes home from work, and listens to all 5 children's plan for the future... and all 5 want to enlist in the military.

The first inner monologue of Ernst on page 106:

"He knew that. He'd received the report from their monitoring officers, and the children had said as much when they'd come to his estate. But he'd thought they'd said that only because they didn't know anything else. They didn't know peace. They didn't know harmony.
Even though they now knew a life where they didn't have the slur Eighty-Six pinned to them. Even though they could finally afford to think about the future...they still... knowingly... chose this?"

Raiden says the following: We've rested enough. We need to start moving forward again. So we're going back to where we belong".

To the battlefield.
Ernst shook his head slowly. He couldn't, for the life of him, see the word so connecting the wish to move forward with the act of returning to the battlefield.

"But why...? Why would you willingly walk back into that hell...?"

They'd fought so desperately to survive, and finally they'd escaped it.

-

We then learn the following about Shin and company's thoughts on their time off:

1. The children had never really changed their minds on their intents. They only humored Ernst because he was kind enough to give them the time to explore other avenues.

2. They had used this month as a rest against the forever-war that they had waged against the Legion, and they were ready to go back now.

3. It is stated that "After being isolated from peace for far too long, it didn't feel nostalgic to them. Only Distant."

4. Shin states that "luck" played a part in getting them to where they were:
"He had the ability to hear the Legion's voices and know where they were. Their last Handler had helped them cross the Legion's patrol line, in a manner distinctly unlike the Republic. And when he had finally lost his strength on a corner of the battlefield, his brother had loaned him aid. Luck was what had brought them to the Federacy, and their fallen comrades simply hadn't been lucky enough to enjoy similar fortune. That, and nothing else, was the only thing that set Shin and his friends apart from them."

-

5. Shin and company wish to fight the Legion once more because they do not wish to become like the White Pigs. To quote page 108:

"If they could, it would mean they had become that which they loathed the most: The Republic of San Magnolia, the despicable white pigs. The fools who ran from the battlefield and sealed themselves in a shell of fake peace, foisting their war with the Legion onto the Eighty-Six, only to remain without a means to defend themselves in the end. The Republic, which practiced such flagrant disrespect for life that not only were its citizens unfit to be considered human, they were unfit to be considered living beings at all. "

-

6. Shin makes one last comment: "Even if our deaths are unavoidable, we have the right to choose how we go out. Fighting until the bitter end is the way of life we chose for ourselves. So please... don't take that away from us."

Raiden then gives a smirk as he says the following: "Besides... If SHE catches up to us after you hit her with that 'We're off' line, it'd be so awkward you'd probably never be able to live it down."

-

-

It is at this point on page 109 that we get Ernst's replies.

But Ernst only shook his head at those words.
"That's wrong. That's, that's so wrong...!"

Ernst knew war well enough. He was once a commander for the Imperial army and later took part in the revolution as one of its leading key figures. He took many lives and left many to die, and he knew many people who bore scars similar to those of these children. Those who lamented the fact that they shamelessly survived while their brothers in arms died. He'd seen too many former soldiers racked with the sorrow and guilt that forbade them from feeling happiness while others passed away.

"You're only here because you fought so hard to get here, so you can take pride in your accomplishments and accept this as the reward you've earned! Your fallen comrades would want this, too, if they were truly your friends... You shouldn't need to feel obliged!"

Obliged to have survived. Obliged to have gained peace --- to have gained happiness.
And unless they made that distinction, people would never escape their pasts, and they would live on, unable to feel happiness without the eternal regret that their joy was built on the sacrifice of others...!

But the five's expressions hadn't changed in the slightest. If they did understand what he meant, they weren't moved by it at all. And driven by an inexplicable unease, Ernst opened his mouth to continue, but was stopped by Frederica, who had been holding her tongue until now.

page 110: "Cease this, Ernst. It is a kindness to prepare a comfortable roost for an injured bird... But to prevent it from taking flight once its wounds have healed, because you fear the world is too dangerous, means confining it to a cage. These birds have finally escaped their cage of persecution. Do you intend to lock them in a cage of pity next?

Pursing her pale lips for a moment, Frederica spoke again --- almost spitting out those words --- with a wounded gaze. It was an expression a caged animal might direct toward a human looking at it from the outside.

"Surely you realize it would be no different from the Republic's conduct."

Ernst was at a loss for words.

"And for the record, these children are neither helpless nor incapable of understanding their position. Children eventually leave their parents behind. If you truly profess to be their father figure... respect their wishes and let them go."

-

-

-

5. Frederica's identity, and The Three things that make a man

Alright, so after the talk with Ernst, we learn some things about Frederica:

1. Shin calls Frederica Your Majesty.
2. Shin got the impression Frederica was royalty based on her speech, the fact she was not allowed outside alone, and didn't go to school at her age.

3. This point is important: Shin feels the way Frederica speaks is similar to his own mother.

4. Frederica recalls that Shin's parents were of Imperial Blood, and that they could possibly find some of his relatives in the Federacy if given the chance.

5. We are then told the "Three Things That Make a Man":

"You were abandoned by your motherland and robbed of your blood relatives. And I do realize that without a country to trace your history back to, or a race to draw your culture from, pride is the one way you have of maintaining your identity... But that way of life is much too flawed.
Three things make a man:
the homeland he was born into,
the blood running through his veins,
and the bonds he forms.

If you have none of those and try to preserve your soul with naught but your pride, you will eventually lose your sense of self and crumble into nothing... Hear my words and commit them to heart."

-

6. We then get Frederica's full name: "Augusta Frederica Adel-Adler. The last empress of the great Empire of Giad, the very people who commanded the Legion to conquer the continent... I am to blame for the loss of your homes and families. Condemn me for it, if you must. I welcome it."

Frederica says to condemn her... but there is a problem: the Legion has been active for 10 years... and Frederica is 10 years old... so she couldn't possibly have been commanding the Legion. We are also informed that the Royal Family was mere puppets of High Nobility by this point in time anyway, so it was never her fault.

-

7. To recognize Shin and Company's resolve as 86, Frederica makes a request of Shin:
"If you are to return to the battlefield, take me with you and aid me in vanquishing the ghost of my knight, who roams the battlefront still".

and who is this knight? the same individual that bombarded them in battle in episode 11!

8. Frederica then tells Shin of her power: "the ability passed down by my heritage allows me to peer into the past and present of those I know... Forgive me. The wound your brother inflicted on you... must have been painful.
I can do naught but see. I lack the strength to save my knight, who calls to me from the battlefield. So please, I ask for your help. Just as you saved your brother... Please save my knight."

Shin finally understood the deja vu Frederica made him feel. She reminded him of himself at the moment he decided to save his brother, who had died in a corner of the battle, when he was just her age.

-

9. After Shin accepts Frederica's request, Ernst speaks up with one condition: That all 5 children must join the Special Officer Academy. Frederica will join them as a "Mascot". Ernst will not budge on this, stating that "Former officers have a wider range of options compared to former soldiers. I want you to have as many paths open to you as possible once this war ends.
This war will surely end one day, and if you intend to see it through to the end... you would do well to consider what you'll do when it does."

-

-

-

And with that, we are done with Chapter 3. I suspect that if we cover all of Chapter 3 in episode 13, that episode 14 is going to start "converging the chapters". Anime-only viewers may be confused by this phrase, but Light Novel readers will know how the studio is arranging events to not have the jumbled timeline we see in Novel 2. If we were going by the events of the Novel, there would be a lot of "back and forth" between some chapters.

I love spending my Saturdays on this. It means I have a terrible sleep schedule lined up every Sunday for 12 Sundays, but it's the most fulfilling work I take on.

Now get me my *ucking Bloody Regina figurine already A-1 Pictures.

Serious-face Lena is pretty good too (both at the end of season 1 and when she was walking past the other soldiers at the military HQ entrance last episode in her black uniform).

Both Lena season 1 and 2 is good but now she has a red hair thing

Good job again on the essay, and nice pfp change. ;)

Byno • 2 years ago

Ok, I have a few questions. First of all, what is a Celena? And 2, will we get any Lena scenes in this season? I'm assuming this season is going to cover Volume 2? If the first one covered the entire Volume 1

Judgment526 • 2 years ago

Where did you see the term "Celena?"

For the second question though, this season will be focusing mostly on Shin's side, though A-1 being what it is and given the author's involvement in this production, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they insert some anime original scenes on Lena's side. Her part in this arc happens mostly toward the end of the season, assuming this season is adapting volumes 2 and 3 as is likely the case.

Byno • 2 years ago

I saw the term in the essay XD Where Type said Anju has Alba eyes and Celena hair? Or something like that

Judgment526 • 2 years ago

In that case it's just the name of one of the various races that exist in this world. The thing of relevance here is that Anju is a mixblood between an Alba and another race, and therefore considered impure by the pureblood Albas who rule over San Magnolia.

Nightfall • 2 years ago

I thought "celena" was just a term referred by the people of the republic as anyone who weren't Alba (in a derogatory term ofc)

Judgment526 • 2 years ago

Hmm…all non-Albas in the Republic are 86s though, so it seems kinda redundant to have an additional term to refer to the same thing. Unfortunately I can’t really confirm because I read the LNs in Chinese, and I don’t recall a term that looked like that.

Vanitas • 2 years ago

LN reader here. Based on my understanding, Celena hair is silvery-bluish white hair, similar to Anju's and other Alba's hair.

Colorata is the derogatory term of the Republic for anyone who are not an Alba, not Celena. 86s are Coloratas, which are people of color (POC) in our world.

My theory is that the autor derived the term "Celena" from the the Greek Goddess of the Moon, Selina. You can Google the term Celena and it says that is a variation of Selina, which makes sense since Alba race's hair resembles the color of the moon I guess.

Typecero • 2 years ago

We’re gonna get more Lena scenes. This arc we have for season 2 will cover two novels. 2 and 3. You’ll know that hen we get to novel 3 by a particular event.

As for the Celena remark, Celena is a specific race. The author for this series uses colors to represent their races most of the time. Celena most reminds me of the color of “Cerulean” (think Cerulean city from Pokémon).

Each race tends to have a special bloodline ability. Sometimes it is minor, sometimes it is major.

For instance, Shin’s two mixed bloodlines grant him increased combat awareness and his telepathic ability (originally it was only used amongst families until the Republic Experiments).

Anju’s Celena bloodline gives her increased trajectory calculation, and she uses it in her missile barrages in battle.

To me, this episode is on par with some of the other powerful episodes in the show. I liked how they showed that Shin & the others are going through the "not knowing what to do with their lives" situation, as well as the stuff around the city bringing back memories of stuff they'd probably rather not remember (the white-haired people back in San Magnolia sitting in their ivory towers, their time spent from a young age fighting the Legion, etc.). This kind of plot feels quite effective in stories. Also, I'm guessing at some point Giad's forces will encounter the other 86 fighters on the battlefield (probably not for a while since Shin & the others took weeks to get where they ended up, and that was without actively trying to fight the Legion). Frederica's way of speaking & mentioning that she's part of Giad's (former?) royal family is interesting. She seems to know a lot of stuff that a child wouldn't usually know.

Other unrelated stuff:
I sometimes look up the names of stuff if they seem interesting. Supposedly Vanagandr is one of Fenrir's other names (Fenrir is a wolf from Norse mythology who is prophesied to defeat Odin during Ragnarok & gets imprisoned ahead of the prophecy). Also, apparently "Lowe" is just German for lion, so I guess they just needed a cool-sounding name for that specific type of Legion drone.

Typecero • 2 years ago

That would not surprise me that the author went with Norse mythology.

You’ll get your answer about the Giad Empire and encountering the 86 at some point, but I won’t say when.

Next episode will cover the contents of Chapter 1: "Ride of the Valkyries" more or less. I wrote my thoughts on this episode along with my personal emphasis on certain things. Had to post that on your video of this in your channel on youtube cause it keeps getting called spam. Go ahead and read it and leave your thoughts on it, it's a long one because I ended up having a lot to say. Please do read it and leave your thoughts on it I spent a long time planning this.

This episode got me laughing at Frederica's antics again with her trying to charm Shin to get her that teddy bear after seeing someone do the charm on TV. Quick question, what do you mean Frederica's love for Magical Girls shows being Asato-san's little easter egg that inspired a magical girl spin-off of this series? That is too weird for words and darn you my eyes I am seeing Lena and Annette doing the silly Magical Girl poses and wearing frilly outfits no thank you begone these cutesy girly images.

BTW, you changed your profile pic again did you? It's only been a week since you changed it and how much are you willing to spend on a figurine of Bloody Reina anyway?

Typecero • 2 years ago

I would drop 200-300 on a Bloody Reina figurine. I want to remember this seirei fondly in the future.

In regards to the Easter Egg, Asato Asato later released a “Magical Girl” comic starring her cast of characters. It is an adorable little side project.

She also has a one-shot I believe called “86, operation high school”.

Will look at your post on YouTube later tonight.

NightDevil00 • 2 years ago

Geez how much genre can Asato-san pull off with her cast of characters? It's almost like how Assassination Classroom has a fantasy genre knockoff of the series itself.

So you say you would spend 200-300 for a figurine of Bloody Reina. I could buy a computer microphone and webcam with that kind of money.

I would only post them on youtube just in case but I also make an effort to repost them again and again after paraphrasing and editing it to prevent it getting spammed out again. It should be here unless it gets spammed out again soon but I'm hoping this time it won't. Their decision is one I just one that I have been preparing in my head ever since I read that chapter. I have more prepared for the next episode and I ain't letting spam blocker stop me. BTW, I prefer replies over likes.

goddamn they potray the uneasiness of away from war just perfectly. and i connected to frederica character in almost a spiritual level, seeing a loli in volume 2 illust made almost give it a 7/10 just bcs how i don't like the seriousness gonna be tampered with, or so i thought.
that last scene with her is just ugh 👌, i don't want to be edgelord wanna be but i have a friend back then at elementary that speak more sense, realism and wisdom than most of my highschool and college friend. i myself kinda have more sense too even in elementary, maybe bcs i have read novel and history book since then that broaden my takes on things too, knowing you gotta bend or bended in society already since 5th grade and how you gotta use your brain to scheme not just brawl to stay on top.
but i never make much sense like that one friend i had so i wonder, how many book he have read? how many movies he have watched? what kind of education he had got in his house? is it hell? what kind of life he has that i don't know of. and frederica character just speak that to the T, that kind of wisdom and sight although not that unrealistic like some of the edgelord anime characters we have seen in the past but it's still so far yet realistic for a 10 years old to have that. all i want is a good long chat and a good coffee session with ppl like that

I confess two things.,, 1. I'm "anime only" (too much "normi" life and no room to squeeze much else in my "otaku" life) 2. I did not read all of your post but as a creative writer.. I appreciate your work, research and passion. This Anime is top notch and earns an easy 8 if not 9. Again... I really do appreciate what you add to this series by your work. *Flame (aka Animeking) bows deeply*

Shin in a shitbox of a Walking Coffin that is a "Juggernaut": (Giving Legion a run for its money)
Shin in a Vanagandrs Mech: "Show me your motivation."

ngl that Royal Loli is kinda suspicious when she suddenly revealed that she is one of the families of a people who launch the Legion's "Nuke button" and not just that... She seriously said that she wanna join them and I was like: "I have a slightest idea where is this going at the end... Not even Lolis are safe in this series, I guess."

Commence the return of Bloodfest.
